Memphis Tick Control

Your Trusted Tick Control Partner In Memphis

What do a peaceful walk on a nature trail and cuddling with your favorite pet have in common? Two things. First, it’s very relaxing to take an easy hike through the forest or to have a nice cuddle with your dog. Second, both activities expose you to the possibility of a tick bite.

How is that possible? Ticks thrive in grassy or thick, wooded areas where they have a good supply of food. You take a walk through the woods, a tick grabs onto your sock or pant leg and you’ve got the potential for a tick bite. The same is true with your dog or cat. They go out for a bathroom break and a tick catches their fur. They’ll bring it into the house without anyone knowing. So what can be done about these ticks?

Tick Control Tips & Hints

In order to keep ticks from crawling into your home on their own, make sure you patch any holes and crevices through which they may be able to crawl. If you find rodent nests in your attic or shed, remove them, as ticks will infest these abandoned homes. Likewise, clean out your birdhouses of old nests. As mentioned, ticks can travel into your home on pets, people and clothes.

Take care to wash your clothes in hot water when you’ve been in the woods. Inspect your hair and body to make sure you haven’t been bitten. If you do find a tick has bitten you, you’ll want to remove it immediately and completely. Ticks are known to carry disease, most importantly Lyme Disease. Be careful not to crush the body of the tick when you remove it so as to not expose yourself to disease. Remove the entire head and mouth of the tick and treat the area with antibiotic ointment.
